In August of 1998, Oswego State University re-occupied Hart Hall, a 400 bed, nine-story high rise, after a two-year, eight million dollar renovation funded from campus reserves. This presentation will include project management, design, product selection and furnishings.
B-4 Technology II - Technology and the Development of Student Learning

This session will explore several aspects of the impact of technology on residence halls including: the ability of technology to extend the teaching/learning environment beyond the classroom (and into the living environment); technology infrastructure considerations for residence facilities; and the impact on student expectations, interactions, and responsibilities. Campus colleagues will share some of their experiences (so far) with "wired" residence halls. Staff from Advanced learning & Information Services (ALIS) at System Administration will be available to discuss the SUNY Learning Network, SUNY library initiatives and technology infrastructure issues.

C-2 System Enrollment Planning -- Effects on Residence Halls

Fall 1998 statistics for utilization of residence hall facilities for state-operated institutions will be presented along with ten-year, system-wide and institutional-type trends. Specific statistics covered will be: net revenue producing adjusted design capacity; total utilization headcount; and percent utilization of net revenue producing adjusted design capacity.
Also, utilizing SUNY System Administration’s databases of applicants and enrolled students, the trends in characteristics of first-time freshmen and transfers requesting resident housing will be compared with those of first-time freshmen and transfers, respectively, not requesting resident housing. The question of whether or not differences exist between the groups requesting housing and those not will be explored.
Demographic profiles of student populations for the state will be discussed along with projections of high school graduates by state and county.
